Monday, 9 July 2012 (the guts to break) 2:33pm Just arrived in Fresno with Perdita in tow. As usual, she was asleep before we got out of San Francisco. Also, the article which got pitched to me on Friday afternoon (about Jennifer Lopez's possible new show involving lesbians) is up. 8:44pm Since they're growing in abundance in my mother's garden, I think I'm going to be eating a lot of bell pepper, green onions, and squash this week. Which is not a bad thing, especially since they're also growing lots of lettuce and tomatoes and broccoli. I'd forgotten that lettuce plants bleed a white, android-like goo when you cut them. If you listen closely, you can hear them screaming. My editor pitched me another story, this one a bit more personally interesting to me, about Batman Begins and The Dark Knight being shown in 35mm at the Balboa. Neat. | ||

Sunday, 8 July 2012 (blood swamp) 10:35pm Pretty good turnout tonight for 2 Fast 2 Furious at Bad Movie Night, mostly due to a group of people there for someone's birthday. Neat. Tomorrow morning, I drive to Fresno. | ||

Saturday, 7 July 2012 (a transitional brouhaha) 10:33am Davina and Mouse just came by to pick up my bike and take it back to their place for repairs. Says it should probably take a week or so, and cost some where in the very low double-digit range. Sounds good to me. | ||

Friday, 6 July 2012 (meowing and licking their hands) 2:40pm Though we set the alarm clock for a quarter past five, both Marta and I were awake by four this morning, so we rolled with it. Had our nearly-teary goodbye at the SFO International Terminal (my first time inside, and who knows, maybe someday I'll actually go there because I'm leaving the country) (crazy talk, to be sure), then I went an did an hour of cardio at the Y, and I've been spending the rest of the day attempting to be productive. Not having a great deal of success at it. 4:48pm Got a pitch from my editor at the weekly. It's not the kind of thing I would normally write about on my own, but that's now a bad thing, and I'll take what I can get. | ||

Thursday, 5 July 2012 (peaking too late) 2:23pm Spending the day working at Marta's, then we'll return to my place tonight, and early tomorrow morning I'm taking her to the airport, where she'll fly to Mexico for a week and a half. That is to say, she'll be in Mexico for a week and a half. (The flight is only supposed to take about five hours.) Got Dancing on the Ledge back from the copyeditor. Ignoring for the moment that the marks aren't in red anyway, there aren't nearly as many red marks as I expected. 5:45pm Having dinner at Golden Gate Pizza & Indian Cuisine, since we figure Indian food won't be quite as readily available to Marta while she's in Mexico as Mexican food will be. Logic! | ||

Wednesday, 4 July 2012 (heart of the sunrise) 9:33am And even what with the national holiday and all, my recaps of episodes 14 and 15 of the second season of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic are now up. sometime after midnight Had dinner with Ilene and Porter and other friends, and Ilene and I watched Sneakers while the others played board games. An excellent Fourth of July, as the Fourth of July goes. I had myself a little breakdown / crying jag before we actually went inside, but at least I got it out of my system. | ||

Tuesday, 3 July 2012 (the least of the virtues) 9:45am Ugh. Thanks to a mid-week Fourth of July, an extra-long weekend is approaching. Not a fan of those, especially when I'm waiting for news from people who work the kinds of jobs that give days off and long weekends. Granted, I used to work those kinds of jobs, but even then, three-day weekends made me antsy. 1:36pm New article up on the weekly, this one about Bob Wilkins and Creature Features. It was bound to happen eventually. 11:12pm The Jerry Lewis movies at KrOB's tonight were Artists and Models (surprisingly good) and The Delicate Delinquent (unsurprisingly bad). I suspect those'll have to tide us over for the next few weeks. | ||

All of this has happened before, and all of this will happen again. 4:39pm Drove to Marta's neighborhood, then realized that I didn't check Perdita's food level before I left, so I drove back home to fill her bowl.
